NATIONAL RESERVE GENERAL LAKE CARRERA

Located in XI the Region, General Province Carrera, Commune of Small Chile, has a surface of 178,400 hectares. It is the greatest lake of Chile, even though is shared with Argentina. The shores estan very eroded and predominate strong winds that even make navigation to greater boats dangerous. It has a total surface of 97,000 Are and 200 km in length. The lake drains first a soon the Bertrand lake and to the Baker river that is most mighty of Chile.

Routes of access  

By the Austral highway, 279 km to the south of Coihiaque, are located the opening of the lake, where asi like also are very comfortable cabins in the Bertrand lake. Also it is possible to be arrived crossing in hull between Pto. Ibañez and Small Chile, following soon by a way that is developed by the steep South shore and that surprises by the layout and cliffs. Also it is possible to be arrived from Argentina (Brown Expert and the Old ones) by the passage of Small Chile.

Information to the tourist  

In order to fish embarked one is due to be near the water-drainage, where pieces from between 5 kg can be removed and 10 kg, is due to have much precaution with the wind and the currents. In the Bertrand lake and the Baker river there are apt infinity of pozones and shores to practice any modality of fishing with fly.

Reserve Rosselot Lake, Monument Five Sisters, Nac. Park Simpson River, among others until the locality of Villa O´higgins near the Reserve Nac.
