Tongoy rises on a small peninsula, nailed in the ample bay that forms the mountainous cord of Language of Cow when entering itself in the sea.

Located to 430 kms. to the north of Santiago and only 50 kms. to the south of La Serena. This bath connotado, makes an impression to the visitor by the special characteristics of its beaches.
Towards the south, the Great Beach, extends throughout 14 kms. in where the facilities of the marine cultures are observed, that they have presented to him internationally. In the typical positions it is offered for the tasting of exquisiteces, like: ostiones, prawns, ostras and now the international Turbot (species similar to the lenguado one, that one grows up in swimming pools).
By the north, the Socos Beach, demonstrates its conditions of special and favorite for the veraneantes, their fine beach of and white sand, its sea of smooth surge and tempered waters, is besieged by swimmers and sport navigations, that wish to enjoy those wonderful 4 kms. of beauty.
Tongoy, exceptional climate, with an annual average temperature of 18º extensive Cs, beaches and free waters of all contamination, sport and recreational abundance in products of the sea, activities, typical gastronomical services, is some of the reasons of porqué Tongoy, is considered a piece of paradise in the Tourist Center of IV the Region.
